Why Choose Vietnam Web Designers?

What Vietnam-based designers bring that a generic search does not.

🏙️

Three Distinct Design Cities

Ho Chi Minh City has the largest agency and start-up scene, Hanoi leans towards enterprise and outsourcing work, and Da Nang is the remote-first, lower-rate hub. The city tells you a lot about the price.

🎨

Figma-Native Workflow

Vietnamese designers commonly work in Figma, so you receive a shareable file with real components rather than flat images — which is what makes the next round of changes cheap.

🧩

Design and Build Together

Vietnam has a deep freelance bench in WordPress, Shopify and Webflow, so one Zinner can often design and ship the site instead of handing a file to a separate developer.

🕖

UTC+7, No Daylight Saving

Vietnam never shifts its clocks, so the only clock change is your own. A Vietnamese afternoon lines up with a European morning, Singapore shares almost the full day and eastern Australia most of it.

🗣️

Vietnamese and English Sites

Vietnamese stacks tone marks on Latin letters, which quietly breaks fonts never tested for it. A local designer handles glyph coverage, line height and text expansion instead of shipping clipped accents.

🛡️

Verified Zinners, Escrow Payment

Every Zinner is ID- and skill-verified, and reviews come only from confirmed purchases. Payment sits in escrow until you accept the delivery.

The Complete Guide to Hiring Vietnam Web Designers

The market, the language, the calendar, the quality checks.

Where Vietnam's Web Design Talent Sits

Vietnam's freelance design bench grew out of its software outsourcing industry and concentrates in three cities that are not interchangeable. Ho Chi Minh City has the largest agency and start-up ecosystem, the most designers with international clients, and the highest rates. Hanoi skews towards enterprise and outsourcing work, producing designers strong on structure who will genuinely read a long specification. Da Nang is the remote-first city: lower costs and rates that often undercut Ho Chi Minh City for comparable work. Ask where a shortlisted Zinner is based and who their last three clients were.

Vietnamese Typography: The Detail Outsiders Get Wrong

Vietnamese is written in the Latin alphabet, which fools people into assuming it behaves like English. It stacks a vowel mark and a tone mark on the same character — ế, ộ, ự, ằ — so glyphs sit taller, and three things follow.

Font coverage. Many display and script typefaces omit the Vietnamese glyph set entirely, so the browser silently substitutes a fallback and your heading renders in two faces. Be Vietnam Pro, Inter, Roboto, Open Sans and the Noto families cover it; if you self-host, confirm the Vietnamese subset is in the file rather than assuming Latin Extended is enough. Vertical space. Tight line heights clip tone marks, especially in all-caps headings set near 1.0; Vietnamese body copy wants roughly 1.5 to 1.6. Text expansion. Vietnamese runs longer than the same English sentence, so fixed-width buttons and single-line navigation that looked fine in the English mock-up will wrap. Before sign-off, ask to see one real Vietnamese heading and paragraph in the chosen typeface — not placeholder Latin text.

Search, Browsers and Platforms That Matter Locally

For a Vietnamese audience the technical picture differs from the West. Google is the dominant search engine, so standard technical SEO applies, but Vietnam has a real home-grown competitor in Cốc Cốc, a Hanoi-built browser and search engine with a meaningful minority share. It runs its own crawler, so check your robots rules do not block it and submit through its webmaster tools as well as Google Search Console. If search matters, pair the build with Vietnam SEO services and Vietnam content writing.

Zalo is the messaging layer, not WhatsApp or Messenger, so a Vietnamese-facing site is expected to offer a Zalo contact button and often an Official Account. Checkout differs too: local gateways such as VNPay, MoMo and ZaloPay matter, QR payment is normal, and cash on delivery is still common, so the design must carry a cash option rather than assuming card-only. Vietnamese addresses follow an administrative hierarchy rather than one free-text line, and that list was reorganised recently — insist the address component is data-driven, not hard-coded.

Time Zones, the Working Week and Tet

Vietnam runs on Indochina Time, UTC+7, with no daylight saving, so the overlap window never moves. In practice, 15:00 to 18:00 in Vietnam is 09:00 to 12:00 in London during British Summer Time and 08:00 to 11:00 in winter, and 12:00 to 15:00 — early afternoon — in Dubai. Singapore, Hong Kong and Perth are one hour ahead, so overlap is total; Sydney is three to four hours ahead and still shares most of the day. North America is the hard case — a Vietnamese morning is the previous evening on the US East Coast — so book one fixed weekly call and run the rest asynchronously.

The calendar matters more than the clock. Tết Nguyên Đán, the Lunar New Year, is the single most important planning fact when hiring in Vietnam. It falls in late January or February, and much of the country is away or at reduced capacity for one to two weeks either side. Never schedule a launch across it. Also mark Hùng Kings Commemoration Day in April, Reunification Day on 30 April running into Labour Day on 1 May, and National Day on 2 September.

What a Good Web Design Brief Contains

Most stalled orders fail on the brief, not the designer. Eight things make a brief quotable: the page list, with a one-line purpose each; two or three reference sites with a sentence on what specifically you like, because "modern and clean" means nothing across a language gap while "the way this pricing table stacks on mobile" means everything; brand assets, including a font confirmed to cover Vietnamese if the site is bilingual; content status — real copy, or placeholder text; the platform, decided before design starts, because a Webflow design, a Shopify theme and a WordPress build are not the same drawing; a performance target as a number, such as a Largest Contentful Paint under 2.5 seconds on mobile; revision rounds as a count; and the handover — the Figma file, the theme files, admin access, or all three.

How to Judge Quality Before You Order

Portfolio images are the weakest signal in web design, because a still frame proves nothing was ever built. Ask for live URLs, then run four checks: open one on your phone and see whether the layout genuinely responds rather than shrinking; run it through a public page-speed tool and read the mobile score, not desktop; if it is a Vietnamese site, check the tone marks render cleanly in headings; and view the source of a WordPress or Shopify piece to see whether it is a recoloured commercial template sold as bespoke work. Then ask one specific question about your brief and see whether they ask a clarifying question back. Listings for web design, responsive design and Core Web Vitals speed up the shortlist, and the website design and website development categories separate drawing from building.

Budgeting the Engagement and Getting Started

Vietnamese rates typically sit below Western agency pricing and broadly in line with the region — compare Malaysia web design for a similar profile with more English-first agencies, India web design and Pakistan web design for larger talent pools, or Japan web design at the premium end. Budget in three buckets, not one number — design, build and aftercare — because the third is the one people forget. Agree clear stages up front so either side can stop cleanly.

Browse ID- and skill-verified designers who state a Vietnam base in the web design marketplace, or go to platform specialists in the WordPress developer marketplace and the Shopify expert marketplace. If the scope is loose, post the job free in Projects; smaller pieces are often fixed-price Micro Zinns. On the buyer side, order funds sit in escrow until you accept the delivery and buyers pay no platform fee; on the seller side, Zinners pay 0% commission on their first $500 and the Zinner's share is released at checkout — terms Vietnamese designers can weigh against the older regional boards, compared on our Fiverr alternative for Vietnam, Upwork alternative for Vietnam, vLance alternative and FreelancerViet alternative pages.

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about hiring designers in Vietnam.

Vietnam has a large software and design outsourcing workforce, concentrated in Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi and Da Nang. Vietnamese web designers typically work fluently in Figma, WordPress, Shopify and Webflow, sit in UTC+7 with a usable afternoon overlap with Europe, and typically charge below Western agency rates. Many also build bilingual Vietnamese and English sites.

Typical marketplace ranges in USD are roughly $80 to $400 for a single landing page, $400 to $1,500 for a five to twelve page site built on WordPress, Shopify or Webflow, and $1,500 upwards for a bespoke design system or a bilingual build. These are observed market ranges, not a Zinn Hub guarantee — every Zinner sets their own USD price, and there is no platform fee for buyers.

Vietnam is UTC+7 and does not observe daylight saving. A Vietnamese afternoon of 15:00 to 18:00 is a London morning of 09:00 to 12:00 during British Summer Time, an hour earlier in winter, and early afternoon in Dubai. Singapore is one hour ahead so overlap is total, and Sydney three to four hours ahead still shares most of the day. North America gets little live overlap, so agree one fixed weekly call and work asynchronously otherwise. Plan around Tet, the Lunar New Year holiday in late January or February, when much of the country stops for one to two weeks.

Yes, and it is a genuine specialism. Vietnamese uses the Latin alphabet with stacked tone and vowel marks, so the typeface must include the Vietnamese glyph set, headings need generous line height so tone marks are not clipped, and Vietnamese copy runs longer than English so buttons and navigation need flexible widths. A Vietnamese designer will also know Zalo is the chat channel local visitors expect.

Zinners are ID- and skill-verified before they can sell, and reviews come only from confirmed purchases. Payment is held in escrow and released when you accept the delivery; a refunded order returns to your Zinn Wallet. There is no platform fee for buyers, over 100 payment methods are supported including card, PayPal and cryptocurrency, and the site runs in 45 languages.

The page list, two or three reference sites with a note on what you like about each, your brand files, whether real copy exists, the platform the site must run on, whether you need Vietnamese and English versions, a performance target such as a Largest Contentful Paint under 2.5 seconds on mobile, the number of revision rounds, and exactly what you receive at handover.
