Why Buy 3D Modelling from Zinn Hub?

Pipeline Specialists — Product visualisers, game artists and architectural visualisers work to different standards, and hiring across those lines is where most 3D projects go wrong.
Editable Source Files — Ask for the native scene file alongside the exports and agree it before you order, so a later revision is an edit rather than a paid rebuild.
Stated Deliverables — Check each listing for what arrives: triangle counts, texture resolutions, map sets and formats, so you can compare like for like.
Direct Communication — Message a Zinner before ordering to share reference or a CAD file and confirm scale, engine and turnaround in writing.
Buyer Protection — Payment is held in escrow until the files are delivered and approved, with dispute resolution if a delivery misses the brief.
No Platform Fee for Buyers — The listed price is the price you pay, in USD, directly to the artist rather than via a studio markup.
Verified Reviews — Every review comes from a confirmed purchase, so feedback on topology and revisions reflects real completed orders.
ID and Skill Verified — Zinners pass identity and skill checks before selling, so the portfolio belongs to the person doing the work.

3D Modelling Services That Fit Your Pipeline, Not Just Your Moodboard

The hard part of commissioning 3D work is not finding someone who can make an attractive picture. It is finding someone whose files open cleanly in your engine, at the right scale, with UVs you can texture and a mesh that deforms without pinching. This marketplace connects you with artists who quote against a stated brief, agreed before a vertex is placed.

Whether you need one product model with studio renders, a batch of game-ready props, an interior visualisation or a sculpted character retopologised for animation, verified Zinners deliver against a written specification, in USD, with payment held in escrow until you approve the files.

Explore the game development marketplace for engine-side work, graphic design for packaging and brand assets, or motion graphics when your model needs to move.

A Marketplace Built Around Deliverables, Not Just Portfolios

Zinn Hub was built by people who have commissioned creative production for years and know how a 3D brief goes wrong: an unstated scale, a triangulated mesh that will not animate, textures baked into a render nobody can reuse. Listings here are structured around what you actually receive, so the specification is settled before the order.

How to Commission Quality 3D Modelling on Zinn Hub

Five steps that turn a vague idea into a file that opens correctly on the first attempt.

1

Decide Whether You Need a Render or a Model

This one decision changes the price, the timescale and the artist. A render is a finished image. A model is a file you own and can reuse. If the answer is both, say so. Start from 3D Modelling & Rendering and narrow down.

2

Write the Technical Half of the Brief

Name the target engine or renderer, the unit scale, the triangle ceiling, the texture resolution, the map set and the export format. Four lines of specification prevent almost every revision round.

3

Shortlist by Discipline, Not by Prettiest Image

Use Zinn Finder to search in plain words, then check that each Zinner you are considering has shipped your kind of work. A brilliant character sculptor is not automatically right for a machined enclosure.

4

Ask for Wireframes and Read the Reviews

Request a wireframe or clay view of a past asset — it shows topology quality in a way a beauty render never will. Then read reviews from confirmed purchases for comments on revisions and scale accuracy.

5

Order with Escrow and Agree a Blockout Checkpoint

Agree a review checkpoint at blockout stage before texturing begins — that is a working agreement with your Zinner, not a payment stage. Your payment stays in escrow for the whole order until the final files are delivered and approved, and every price is in USD.

Frequently Asked Questions About 3D Modelling

The technical questions worth settling before you brief a 3D modeller.

3D modelling is the process of building a digital three-dimensional object from vertices, edges and faces, so it can be textured, lit and then rendered as an image, exported as a real-time asset for a game or web viewer, or prepared as a watertight mesh for 3D printing. Hard-surface work covers products and machinery; organic work covers characters and creatures.
A render is a finished image produced offline by Cycles, Arnold, V-Ray or KeyShot, so you receive pixels rather than a model and the polygon count barely matters. A real-time asset is the model itself, budgeted so a game engine or web viewer can draw it live, which demands a triangle ceiling, clean UVs and baked PBR maps.
FBX is the safest interchange format for game engines because it carries meshes, materials, rigs and animation. OBJ is a simple static mesh with no rig. glTF and GLB are the standard for web and augmented reality. STL is geometry only, for printing. Always ask for the native project file too, such as a .blend or a .max.
It depends on the platform and how close the camera gets. As a guide: a small mobile prop around 500 to 2,000 triangles, a desktop environment prop 3,000 to 10,000, a first-person weapon 15,000 to 40,000, and a hero character 40,000 to 100,000. Agreeing a ceiling up front is far cheaper than a retopology pass later.
Retopology is rebuilding a dense mesh as a clean, lightweight one made of even quads with edge loops following the form. You need it whenever a model was sculpted in ZBrush, or came from a photogrammetry scan or a CAD tessellation, and now has to deform, animate or run in real time. Still renders can usually skip it.
Match the resolution to how much of the screen the object fills. 4K suits a hero product or a close-up character, 2K suits most props and furniture, and 1K or 512 pixels is ample for background and mobile assets. Ask for the PBR maps as separate files rather than baked into a render.
Pricing is in USD and depends on complexity, poly budget and whether texturing and rendering are included. Simple prop modelling and small clean-up jobs often appear as Micro Zinns between $5 and $20. A textured product model with studio renders typically runs from around $80 to $400, and a game-ready character from roughly $300 upwards.
Yes, and print preparation is a distinct skill from render modelling. The mesh must be manifold and watertight, with no holes, no internal faces and no flipped normals, scaled in real millimetres, with wall thickness clearing the minimum for your process. Ask for a repaired STL plus the editable source, and name your printer or bureau.

The Practical Guide to Commissioning 3D Modelling Work

Most disappointing 3D commissions fail the same way: the buyer described how the object should look and said nothing about what the file has to do. Two artists can produce an identical render from wildly different meshes — one a tidy quad cage that will animate, unwrap and drop into an engine, the other a two-million-triangle pile-up that survives one camera angle. Only one is what you needed.

Topology, Retopology and Why It Decides Everything Downstream

Topology means how the polygons are arranged, not how many there are. Good topology uses quads, keeps edge loops flowing with the form and concentrates density where a surface curves. A deforming character needs loops around the elbows, knees, shoulders and mouth, or the mesh creases when it moves. Subdivision only behaves predictably on quads, and unwrapping is simple on clean topology.

Retopology is rebuilding that mesh as a clean one, and it is standard after a ZBrush sculpt, after photogrammetry and after tessellating a CAD model. It is real, chargeable work and the most common reason a cheap-looking quote grows: quoting to sculpt a character is not the same as quoting to make it animate. Ask whether the price includes a retopologised low-poly version, and at what triangle count.

Poly Budgets That Actually Mean Something

A poly budget is only useful when it names the platform, and it should be stated in triangles, the unit engines actually count. Renders that never move in real time need no budget at all; anything entering an engine needs one before work starts.

Alongside the count, agree the pivot position, the unit scale and the up-axis. Blender and Maya default to Z-up and Y-up respectively; Unreal works in centimetres, Unity in metres. A model that arrives at a hundredth of its size, on its side, with a pivot floating in space is technically correct and practically useless. Write those three things into the brief.

UVs, Texel Density and PBR Texture Sets

UV unwrapping flattens the model so a flat image can be painted onto it. For real-time assets the UVs must not overlap if normal or ambient occlusion maps are being baked, and a second non-overlapping channel is often needed for baked lighting. Texel density — texture pixels per unit of surface — must stay consistent across a set, or one prop looks conspicuously blurrier than its neighbour.

A physically based rendering set normally means base colour, roughness, metallic, normal and ambient occlusion. Ask for those as separate image files at a named resolution rather than flattened into the render: 4K for a hero object, 2K for most props, 1K or 512 for background and mobile assets. Channel-packed maps save memory in both Unreal and Unity.

File Formats and What to Ask For in the Delivery

FBX carries geometry, materials, rigs and animation; OBJ is simple but static; glTF and GLB suit web and augmented reality; STL is bare geometry for printing; STEP and IGES are what a manufacturer wants back. Whatever the export, ask for the native project file too — a .blend, .max, .ma or .ztl makes the next revision an edit rather than a rebuild, which is the difference between owning an asset and renting a picture of one.

Product Visualisation, Architecture and Print

For eCommerce the economics usually decide it: modelling a product once and rendering every colourway from that single asset costs less than photographing samples, and it works before the product exists. Ask for consistent cameras and lighting so the listing images sit together, and a turntable or glTF file if shoppers should rotate the product.

Architectural visualisation starts from plans, elevations, CAD or a SketchUp massing model, and its credibility lives in daylight direction and material scale, so supply real dimensions and site orientation. For printing the priorities invert: manifold geometry, millimetre scale, wall thickness and part splitting matter far more than appearance.

Briefing, Budget and Getting a Result You Can Reuse

A strong brief is short and specific: the object, the reference, the end use, the target engine, a triangle ceiling, a texture resolution, the formats, and a checkpoint at blockout stage. That checkpoint is the highest-value habit in the process, because catching a proportion problem at greybox costs minutes, while catching it after texturing costs the texturing.
