At Zinn Hub, we automatically monitor every connected PayPal account to make sure payments work smoothly for both Zinners (vendors) and Zinnectors (buyers).
Our system checks your PayPal account regularly and takes protective action if any issues are detected — so you never miss a sale. This article explains what we check, what happens if there's a problem, and what you need to do to fix it.
What Do We Check?
- Payments Receivable— Can your PayPal account actually receive Commerce Platform payments? PayPal may disable this if your account has limitations, incomplete identity verification, or restrictions.
- Primary Email Confirmed— Is the email address on your PayPal account verified? PayPal requires email confirmation before you can receive third-party marketplace payments.
- Commerce Platform Product Active— Is your account set up for Commerce Platform (PPCP) payments? This is the specific PayPal product that allows marketplaces like Zinn Hub to route payments to your account.
All three must pass for your PayPal to work on our platform. If any one fails, your account is considered unhealthy.
When Do Checks Run?
Your PayPal is checked automatically at several points:
- Every 4 hours— A scheduled check runs across all vendors with connected PayPal accounts.
- When you connect or reconnect your PayPal— An immediate check runs within seconds of your PayPal being linked.
- When you switch to your own PayPal— If you change from platform payments to your own PayPal in the Payment Setup Wizard, an instant health check runs before your first sale.
- Manually by our team— Our admin team can run a check on any vendor at any time.
What Happens If There's a Problem?
If You're Using Your Own PayPal (Direct Payments)
If your PayPal fails the health check while you're receiving payments directly to your own account:
- Your listings stay live— Buyers can still purchase from you. Nothing is removed or hidden.
- You're automatically switched to platform payments— Instead of payments going to your broken PayPal, they're processed through Zinn Hub's PayPal account. Your earnings are tracked and paid out to you via your configured payout method (PayPal payout, bank transfer, crypto, etc.).
- You receive an email— We send you a detailed email explaining exactly what's wrong and step-by-step instructions to fix it.
- Our team is notified— An admin is alerted so we can monitor the situation.
- Your PayPal connection is preserved— We don't delete your PayPal connection details. Everything is saved so it can be restored automatically.
This is called a "suspension" — it's temporary and automatic. It's not a ban or a punishment. It simply means we've switched you to platform payments to protect your sales while the issue is resolved.
If You're Already on Platform Payments
If you're using Zinn Hub's PayPal at checkout (platform mode) but have a PayPal account connected with issues:
- Your sales are not affected— Platform payments work regardless of your own PayPal status.
- You receive a one-time advisory email— We let you know about the issues so you're aware, but no action is required unless you want to switch to your own PayPal in the future.
How Does Automatic Restoration Work?
Once you fix the issues with your PayPal account, our system detects the fix at the next health check and:
- Automatically switches you back to direct payments— Your own PayPal is restored as the payment method for your listings.
- Sends you a confirmation email— You'll know the moment your direct payments are back.
- Notifies our team— So we can confirm everything is working.
You don't need to do anything in the Payment Setup Wizard — it all happens automatically. However, if you prefer, you can also manually reconnect via the wizard at any time.
What Do I Need to Fix?
The most common issues and how to resolve them:
"Primary email NOT confirmed"
- Log into your PayPal account at paypal.com
- Go to Settings → Account
- Look for your email address and click Confirmif it shows as unconfirmed
- Check your inbox for the verification email from PayPal and click the link
"Account cannot receive payments (payments_receivable = false)"
This usually means PayPal has placed a limitation on your account. Common causes:
- Incomplete identity verification — PayPal may need you to upload ID documents
- Account restrictions due to unusual activity
- Business account setup not completed
- Country or currency restrictions
To fix:
- Log into PayPal and go to the Resolution Centre
- Check for any pending actions, verifications, or alerts
- Complete any requested steps
- If nothing is obvious, contact PayPal Support directly and tell them you need your account enabled for Commerce Platform (third-party) payments
"Commerce Platform product not active"
Your PayPal account doesn't have the correct product enabled for marketplace payments. This can happen if:
- The onboarding process wasn't fully completed
- PayPal deactivated the product due to account changes
- Your account type doesn't support Commerce Platform
To fix:
- Try disconnecting and reconnecting your PayPal via the Payment Setup Wizardon your Zinner Dashboard
- Complete the full onboarding flow when redirected to PayPal
- If the issue persists, contact PayPal Support and ask them to activate PPCP (PayPal Commerce Platform)on your account
Frequently Asked Questions
Why was my PayPal suspended?
Your PayPal wasn't banned — it was temporarily switched to platform payments because our health check detected an issue that would prevent buyers from completing purchases through your account. Check your email for details on the specific issue.
Am I losing sales while suspended?
No. Your listings remain live and buyers can still purchase from you. The only difference is that payments are processed through Zinn Hub's PayPal instead of yours. Your earnings are still tracked and paid out to you normally.
How long until I'm restored?
As soon as you fix the issue, our system will detect it at the next check (within 4 hours maximum) and automatically restore your direct payments. If you've just fixed it and don't want to wait, you can reconnect via the Payment Setup Wizard to trigger an immediate check.
Can I stay on platform payments instead?
Yes. If you prefer to use Zinn Hub's PayPal at checkout, simply go to the
Payment Setup Wizardand select
"Use Zinn Hub's PayPal". Your suspension will be cleared and you'll remain on platform payments by choice.
Will I be notified when I'm restored?
Yes. You'll receive an email confirmation the moment your PayPal is verified healthy and restored to direct payments.
I fixed my PayPal but I'm still showing as suspended
Our checks run every 4 hours. You can speed things up by going to the
Payment Setup Wizardand reconnecting your PayPal, which triggers an immediate health check.
What if I connect a different PayPal account?
That's fine. If you disconnect your current PayPal and connect a new one through the Payment Setup Wizard, our system runs a fresh health check on the new account. If it passes, you're good to go. If it has issues too, you'll be placed on platform payments until those are resolved.
Does this affect my Stripe payments?
No. PayPal health checks are completely separate from Stripe. Your Stripe connection is unaffected.
Does this affect cryptocurrency payments?
No. Cryptocurrency payments through NOWPayments are always available to all Zinners regardless of PayPal status.
