Zinn Hub lets you browse and shop with prices shown in a currency that's familiar to you — while keeping the money itself simple. All prices are based on US Dollars (USD), our base currency, and that's what you're charged in. This article explains what you see versus what you pay.
A quick note on our words: Zinners are sellers (freelancers), Zinnectors are buyers, and Zinns are the service listings Zinners offer.
Choosing your currency
Zinn Hub supports 59 display currencies. When you first visit, we pick one for you automatically — from your saved preference, your location, or your browser's language — with USD as the fallback. You can change it any time, and a choice you make yourself is always respected. Look for the currency pill (it shows the current code, e.g. USD, GBP, EUR):
- On desktop — in the header at the top of the page.
- On mobile — inside the main menu.
- At the bottom of any page — in the footer.
Tap it, search or scroll to find your currency (USD, EUR and GBP are pinned at the top), and select it. The page refreshes with prices shown in your choice, and it's remembered for next time.
How prices work
- All Zinns are listed in USD — that's the canonical price.
- When you browse, each price is converted and displayed in your selected currency at the current exchange rate.
- The converted figure is a live estimate — exchange rates move constantly, and rates are refreshed regularly across the whole site so what you see stays consistent from page to page.
- Under a USD amount, when you're not on USD, you'll also see a quick reference equivalent — for example “$275.00 ≈ £204.91.”
How payments work
This is the part that trips people up most, so here's the clear version:
- Checkout is always processed in USD. Whatever currency you're browsing in, your card, wallet or chosen payment method is charged the USD amount. At checkout you'll see: “All payments processed in USD. Your bank or wallet may apply its own conversion rate.”
- Your bank converts to your local currency at their own rate when the payment clears — the same as any cross-border purchase.
- Their rate may include a small margin. Most banks and cards apply a small fee on currency conversion, so your statement may differ slightly from the figure we displayed.
- No conversion fee from us. Zinn Hub doesn't add any FX fee on top — the only conversion cost is whatever your own bank charges, which is between you and them.
Helper conversions when you enter USD amounts
Some forms ask you to enter a USD amount — most commonly the Project Budget field when posting a project, but also custom offers and similar inputs. As you type, you'll see a caption beneath, such as “≈ £204.91.” The “≈” means “approximately” — it's a sanity check, purely informational. The amount you submit is always the USD value you typed, whatever the helper line happens to show.
For Zinners (sellers)
Everything stays in USD on your side:
- Your Zinn prices are in USD (you set them when you create the listing).
- Your earnings are paid in USD, regardless of which currency the buyer was browsing in.
- Your Zinn Wallet balance is in USD, and payouts are in USD — to your wallet, bank, crypto address, or whichever payout method you've set up.
- The buyer's display currency doesn't affect your earnings in any way.
Refunds
All refunds credit back to your Zinn Wallet as USD, dollar-for-dollar with what you paid, regardless of how you originally paid — even if you paid partly by wallet and partly by card, the whole refund lands in your wallet. There are no card-refund delays to chase, and your wallet balance is real money you can put towards your next order.
Frequently asked questions
Why don't I see my currency in the list? We support 59 currencies covering the vast majority of buyers worldwide. If yours isn't listed, the site displays in USD — which is the base currency anyway, so prices are exact.
Will I be charged a different amount than the converted price I saw? Possibly a small difference. The price we display is converted at our rate; your bank applies its rate when the charge clears, which may have moved slightly and may include a small margin. The difference is usually under 1%.
Can I pay in my local currency directly? No — all payments are processed in USD, and your bank does the conversion. This keeps things simple and consistent for everyone.
Does the currency I pick change what I pay? No. The USD price is what you actually pay; your selected currency is for display only. The same applies to USD amounts you type into forms — the helper caption is informational, and the value you typed is what counts.
Will my refund come back in my own currency? Refunds credit to your Zinn Wallet in USD, which you can spend on any future order.
