Zinn Hub® is listing-led — a buyer orders a published voice over Zinn® with the read, the usage and the revisions already stated, Zinners pay 0% commission on their first $500, and payouts are released at checkout. [Browse Verified Zinners →](https://zinnhub.com/zinners/) The short answer ## How does voice over work get booked on Zinn Hub? By publishing a Zinn a buyer can order outright — script length, usage, format and revisions stated upfront — or by sending a free proposal to a posted project, with no bidding credits to buy. Commission is 0% on your first $500, then tiered rates as low as 7% on Agency Zinner®, all priced in USD. Already voicing elsewhere? [Switch from Upwork to Zinn Hub](https://zinnhub.com/switch-from/upwork/) ## Why Look for an Upwork Alternative for Voice Over Work? Voice over is one of the most portable trades there is: a treated corner, a good microphone and a client anywhere. Upwork is one of the main places that work gets sold, and it is a serious platform — hourly contracts with time tracking, milestones held in escrow, and clients who arrive with a script and a budget. None of that is in dispute. The question here is narrower — **whether a proposal-led model fits how voice work is actually scoped and paid for**. Three frictions come up repeatedly. Bidding asks you to spend Connects before a session has been booked, and voice briefs are often small: a fifteen-second tag, an IVR menu, a pickup for a video that shipped last month. A service fee on your side plus charges on the client side widen the gap between the rate you quoted and the amount that reaches your account, and earnings then wait out a security period. And hourly tracking sits awkwardly on a craft where the value is in the read and the edit, not the minutes at the microphone. Zinn Hub answers those points with a different model rather than a better version of the same one. There are no proposal credits: buyers order a published Zinn whose word count, usage, format and revisions are already stated. Zinners pay **0% commission on their first $500**, their share is released **at checkout**, and buyers pay **no platform fee**. Each suits some voice artists and not others. 🎟️ ### Paying to Audition Connects are spent on proposals, not on booked sessions. Across a run of small reads you can spend more on the right to be considered than the jobs would have paid. ⏳ ### Recorded but Not Available A security period sits between an approved delivery and a withdrawal. A licence renewal or an editor's invoice does not wait for it. ⏱️ ### Hourly Tracking Fits Badly Time tracking measures presence at a desk. Voice pricing turns on script length, usage and the read — a fast, experienced take should be worth more, not less. 🪜 ### Badges Reward Tenure Badges are earned through sustained activity on one platform. Fair to long-serving members, but a new profile starts at the bottom whatever the credits behind it. 📝 ### Scope Lives in the Chat Usage, exclusivity and pickups get agreed in messages rather than published upfront, so one script can be quoted five ways and reopened after delivery. ## Is Upwork Good for Voice Over Work? Yes, for a particular shape of work. If you are cast on long-running projects — an e-learning library rolled out module by module, a narration series, an announcer seat a client's finance team wants on a documented contract — its contracts, tracking and dispute process do exactly what they were designed to do. It fits less well when the work is short, repeatable and priced per script, or when the gap between quote and payout decides whether a small read is worth taking at all. That is where a second platform earns its place. Neither is universally better; they suit different voice artists. | How it works | Zinn Hub | Upwork | | --- | --- | --- | | Reaching a client | ✓ Publish a voice over Zinn, buyers order it | ~ Proposals, bid using Connects | | Freelancer commission | ✓ 0% on the first $500 in sales | ~ Service fee on earnings | | When the Zinner is paid | ✓ Their share is released at checkout | ~ After a security period | | Buyer platform fee | ✓ None — listed price is the price | ~ Client-side charges apply | | Zinnector®'s protection | ✓ Escrow until the order completes, refunds to the Zinn Wallet | ✓ Escrow on fixed-price milestones, plus disputes | | Credibility signal | ✓ ID- and skill-verified Zinners | ✓ Badge tiers built on tenure | | Hourly work with tracking | ~ Fixed-scope Zinns and briefs | ✓ Hourly contracts, time tracking | | Existing client traffic | ~ Growing marketplace | ✓ Large established client base | ## How Voice Artists Start on Zinn Hub The setup is short, because nothing is spent before the first order arrives. 1 #### Verify Once Complete ID and skill verification. That badge is what a first-time buyer reads instead of a tier. 2 #### List the Read Publish Zinns priced in US dollars with word count, usage and revisions stated, or start with Micro Zinns, $5 to $20. 3 #### Deliver in Escrow The buyer pays upfront, the order sits in escrow, and scripts, takes and pickups stay in one thread. 4 #### Get Paid at Checkout Your share is released at checkout — at 0% commission until you have passed $500 in sales. ## Winning Voice Over Work Without Bidding ### Publish the scope instead of negotiating it Most voice disputes are scope disputes: the tag that became a full campaign, the corporate read quietly used in a paid advert, the third round of pickups nobody priced. The listing forces the answers into the open before anyone pays — word count, the read, the usage and its term, delivery format, revisions and what a pickup costs. A buyer who orders that has agreed to it, which beats a chat thread. ### Sell the read, not the hour Nobody buys minutes at a microphone; they buy a take that lands, cleanly edited, on time. Say so on the listing: the accent and age range you deliver, the genres you are cast in, the turnaround you can hold, whether raw files come with the edit. Expertise is the product, and a fixed-scope Zinn lets you charge for it rather than the clock. ### Let 46 languages do the distribution Zinn Hub renders in 46 site languages, and buyers can be messaged in 58, so a listing written once in English reaches a producer browsing in Spanish, German or Japanese. Write the specifics first — deliverable, format, revisions, turnaround. That survives translation; studio slang does not. Prices display in 59 currencies, while everything is settled in USD. ### Price for the whole payment chain Everything is quoted and settled in US dollars, and releasing the Zinner's share at checkout removes the platform-side wait; what remains is whatever your payout method takes. Our [pricing page](https://zinnhub.com/pricing/) sets out how orders are charged, and the [refund policy](https://zinnhub.com/refund-policy/) covers undelivered work. ## Who Should Choose Which An honest split. Most voice artists recognise themselves in one column more than the other. ### ✅ Zinn Hub suits you if - You would rather publish a defined read than pay to submit proposals - Early earnings matter — 0% commission on the first $500 - You want your share released at checkout, not after a security period - Your work is priced per script and usage, not per hour - You would rather be judged on verification than tenure - Your clients want to pay by card, PayPal or cryptocurrency ### 💡 Upwork still suits you if - Your casting is retainer-shaped or runs for months - Clients need an hourly contract with tracked time - You rely on its large established client base - You have already earned a badge tier worth protecting - You are content with the fees and payout timing as they are ## Popular Voice Over Services on Zinn Hub The reads buyers order most, each published with its scope stated upfront. - [Commercial and advert reads](https://zinnhub.com/search/commercial+voice+over/?post_type=product) — radio, online video and social. - [Explainer and corporate narration](https://zinnhub.com/search/explainer+narration/?post_type=product) — product films and internal comms. - [Audiobook and long-form narration](https://zinnhub.com/search/audiobook+narration/?post_type=product) — priced per finished hour or word. - [E-learning and training modules](https://zinnhub.com/search/elearning+voice+over/?post_type=product) — consistent reads across a library. - [IVR, on-hold and phone prompts](https://zinnhub.com/search/ivr+voice+over/?post_type=product) — menu trees as split, named files. - [Character and animation voices](https://zinnhub.com/search/character+voice+over/?post_type=product) — games, animation and dubbing. - [Micro Zinns](https://zinnhub.com/micro-zinns/) — fixed-price services from $5 to $20, for one short read. ## Related Platform Comparisons Weighing up more than one option? Upwork is a global freelancing platform built around job posts and proposals. A client describes a piece of work, freelancers submit proposals, and the two sides agree either an hourly contract tracked by the platform or a fixed-price contract paid against milestones held in escrow. Voice artists spend Connects, the platform's proposal credits, in order to bid, and Upwork takes a service fee from freelancer earnings while charging the client side separately. It also runs badge tiers that reward a sustained track record on the platform. It is an established, widely used marketplace and a perfectly reasonable place to record. Usually for three reasons, none of which say anything bad about the platform. And hourly tracking sits awkwardly on a craft where the value is in the read and the edit, not the minutes logged at the microphone. It is a different model rather than a better version of the same one. Zinn Hub is listing-led, so a buyer orders a published Zinn — a defined read, with word count, usage and revisions stated — instead of voice artists bidding for a job, and there are no proposal credits to buy. Zinners pay 0% commission on their first $500 in sales, the Zinner's share is released at checkout rather than after a security period, and buyers pay no platform fee. The buyer's payment is held in escrow until the order completes, an approved refund returns to their Zinn Wallet, and Zinners are verified by ID and by skill. Upwork keeps its large established client base and its tracked hourly contracts. Pricing and settlement are in US dollars, and the Zinner's share of an order is released at checkout rather than after a security period, so a short pickup does not sit in a holding pattern for weeks. The buyer is protected on the other side of that same order: their payment is held in escrow until the order completes, and an approved refund returns to their Zinn Wallet. The only wait left for a Zinner is whatever their own payout method takes. On the buyer side Zinn Hub accepts more than 100 payment methods, including card, PayPal and cryptocurrency. No. Zinn Hub charges buyers no platform fee, so the price shown on a voice over Zinn is the price at checkout, in US dollars. Posting a project brief is free as well, so a studio or an agency can describe the script, the usage and the deadline and let verified Zinners respond at no cost. Every order is protected by escrow until it completes, and if the recording is not delivered the refund returns to the Zinn Wallet. Give the artist what a quote actually depends on: the script or its final word count, the read you want, the audience and accent, where the audio will be used and for how long, the delivery format and sample rate, and whether you need raw or edited files. Say how many revisions are included and whether pickups are likely. Zinns are published with their scope stated upfront, so most of that is already on the listing, and matching your brief to it stops a fixed price turning into a negotiation after delivery. ## Explore More on Zinn Hub Post a brief, compare the packaged-gig model or read the switching guide.
