--- title: "Upwork Alternative for Press Releases" url: https://zinnhub.com/alternatives/upwork-alternative-press-releases/ description: "The Upwork alternative for press releases: order a published Zinn instead of bidding for briefs. 0% commission on a Zinner's first $500, no buyer fee." published: 2026-08-15T13:24:55+00:00 modified: 2026-08-15T13:24:55+00:00 language: en-GB --- # Upwork Alternative for Press Releases ⭐ Upwork Alternative — Press Releases # Upwork Alternative for Press Releases Upwork runs on proposals: buyers post an announcement brief and shortlist, while writers spend Connects to bid, pay a service fee out of what they earn and wait out a security period. Zinn Hub® is listing-led — a press release Zinn® is published with its scope already stated, buyers order it outright, Zinners pay 0% commission on their first $500, and the Zinner®'s share is released at checkout. [Browse Verified Zinners →](https://zinnhub.com/zinners/) The short answer ## How do you buy or sell press release work on Zinn Hub? A Zinner publishes a press release Zinn — writing, outreach, or both — with the word count, revisions and turnaround stated, and a buyer orders it outright. No bidding credits, and no proposals written into the void. If an announcement is unusual, post a brief free instead. Commission is 0% on a Zinner's first $500, then tiered rates as low as 7% on Agency Zinner, all priced in USD. Already selling elsewhere? [Switch from Upwork to Zinn Hub](https://zinnhub.com/switch-from/upwork/) ## Why Look for an Upwork Alternative for Press Releases? A press release is a small piece of work with a lot riding on it. Somebody has news — a funding round, a launch, a senior appointment — and it must read the way editors expect and reach the right desks before it stops being news. Upwork is one of the main places that work is bought and sold, and it is a serious platform: job posts, proposals, tracked hourly contracts and fixed-price contracts paid against milestones held in escrow. The question here is narrower. **A proposal-led marketplace is built for open-ended work, and an announcement is about as far from open-ended as a brief gets** — which is why people go looking for an Upwork alternative for press releases. Two frictions come up repeatedly. For a buyer, running a proposal round on a job you could describe in four lines costs days of shortlisting before a sentence is drafted, and the announcement usually has a date attached to it. For a writer, bidding costs Connects whether or not the brief converts, a service fee comes out of earnings, and what is left sits through a security period before it can be withdrawn — a lot of process for a short, fixed-scope job. Zinn Hub answers those points with a different model rather than a better version of the same one. There are no proposal credits, because buyers order a published Zinn directly and read the scope before they pay. Zinners pay **0% commission on their first $500**, the Zinner's share is **released at checkout**, and buyers pay **no platform fee**. For a writer quoting on short releases, that is a cost attached to being considered, not to being hired. 🗓️ ### News Has a Date Posting, waiting for proposals and shortlisting is sound process for a three-month engagement. For an announcement going out on Tuesday it eats the runway. ⏱️ ### Hourly Tracking on a Fixed Job Time tracking makes open-ended work accountable. Nobody needs a screenshot log for a 500-word release; both sides care that it reads well and lands on time. 📄 ### Scope Lives in the Thread Word count, quote handling, revisions and what follows sign-off get settled message by message, so two quotes for the same release rarely price the same job. ⏳ ### Earned but Not Available A security period sits between approved work and a withdrawal. For a writer paying a subeditor out of it, money that cannot move is a real constraint. ## Is Upwork Good for Press Release Work? Yes, for a particular shape of it. If you are hiring a communications professional rather than commissioning a document — an ongoing PR seat, a launch programme running over a quarter, a media relations retainer on a documented hourly contract — Upwork's contracts, time tracking and dispute process do exactly what they were built to do. It fits less well when the job is one announcement, the scope is already clear and the date is fixed. That is where a listing-led marketplace earns its place: you read what is included, you order, and the work starts the same day. Read the broader [Upwork alternative](https://zinnhub.com/alternatives/upwork-alternative/) overview or the [Zinn Hub vs Upwork comparison](https://zinnhub.com/compare/zinn-hub-vs-upwork/). ## Zinn Hub vs Upwork for Press Releases — the Model Difference Two marketplaces, two designs. Neither is universally better; they suit different pieces of work. | How it works | Zinn Hub | Upwork | | --- | --- | --- | | Commissioning the work | ✓ Order a published press release Zinn | ~ Post a brief, shortlist proposals | | Cost of quoting | ✓ Free — no bidding credits | ~ Bid using Connects | | Writer commission | ✓ 0% on the first $500 in sales | ~ Service fee on earnings | | When the Zinner is paid | ✓ Their share is released at checkout | ~ After a security period | | Buyer platform fee | ✓ None — listed price is the price | ~ Client-side charges apply | | Zinnector®'s protection | ✓ Escrow until the order completes, refunds to the Zinn Wallet | ✓ Escrow on fixed-price milestones, plus disputes | | Credibility signal | ✓ ID- and skill-verified Zinners, verified-purchase reviews | ✓ Badge tiers built on tenure | | Long PR retainers with tracked hours | ~ Fixed-scope Zinns and posted briefs | ✓ Hourly contracts, time tracking | | Existing client traffic | ~ Growing marketplace | ✓ Large established client base | ## How Press Release Work Runs on Zinn Hub Short, because nothing is spent on either side before the order exists. 1 #### Verify Once Zinners complete ID and skill verification. That badge is what a first-time buyer reads instead of a tier. 2 #### Publish the Scope Word count, quote handling, revisions, turnaround and what follows sign-off — stated in the listing, in USD. 3 #### Order and Draft The buyer pays upfront, the payment sits in escrow, and brief, drafts and approvals stay in one thread. 4 #### Complete and Get Paid The Zinner's share is released at checkout — at 0% commission until they have passed $500 in sales. ## Getting a Press Release Brief Right ### Lead with the news, not the company The commonest reason an announcement is ignored is that the news is in paragraph four. Before you commission anything, write one sentence saying what changed, when it takes effect and who it affects. A good writer reworks that sentence; they cannot invent it. Hand over the facts and figures you are willing to stand behind, and say plainly which numbers must not be published. ### Separate the writing from the outreach Writing an announcement and getting it in front of editors are two jobs with two skill sets, and they are often sold together in one listing. That is fine, as long as you know which half you are buying. If outreach is included, the listing should say what form it takes and which desks or wire it targets. No honest supplier promises coverage — an editor decides that — so a clear process beats a promised outcome. ### Agree the revisions and the sign-off upfront Announcements are approved by more people than almost any other short document: a founder, a legal reviewer, a partner whose quote is in it. Decide before ordering how many revisions are included and who has the final say, and put the embargo date in the first message. The whole exchange lives in the order thread, so the approved version is easy to find later. Our [pricing page](https://zinnhub.com/pricing/) sets out how orders are charged, and the [refund policy](https://zinnhub.com/refund-policy/) covers undelivered work. ### Plan the other languages before you sign off the English An announcement adapted for a market reads as though it was written for it; one translated afterwards usually carries idioms that do not survive the trip. Zinn Hub renders in **46 site languages** and buyers can be messaged in 58, so commissioning the English release and its adaptations in one place keeps the terminology consistent. See how [translation](https://zinnhub.com/zinns-category/writing-and-translation/translation/) buyers describe what they need. ## Who Should Choose Which An honest split — most people recognise themselves in one column more than the other. ### ✅ Zinn Hub suits you if - You would rather order a service than run a proposal round - Your announcement has a date and cannot wait on shortlisting - You are a writer who would rather publish than pay to submit proposals - Early earnings matter — 0% commission on the first $500 - You want your share released at checkout, not after a security period - You need the same release adapted for buyers who read other languages ### 💡 Upwork still suits you if - You are hiring a PR professional rather than commissioning one document - The engagement runs for months, or is retainer-shaped - Your finance team needs an hourly contract with tracked time - You rely on its large established client base - You have already earned a badge tier worth protecting ## Popular Announcement Services on Zinn Hub The work most often bought alongside a release. - [Writing and translation](https://zinnhub.com/zinns-category/writing-and-translation/) — the release, the boilerplate and the quotes. - [Digital marketing](https://zinnhub.com/zinns-category/digital-marketing/) — outreach, media lists and the campaign around it. - [Translation](https://zinnhub.com/zinns-category/writing-and-translation/translation/) — localised versions for each market you announce into. - [Graphics and design](https://zinnhub.com/zinns-category/graphics-and-design/) — press kit assets and a clean one-page PDF. - [Micro Zinns](https://zinnhub.com/micro-zinns/) — fixed-price services from $5 to $20, for a headline rewrite. - [Post a project](https://zinnhub.com/projects/) — free to post, when the brief needs describing first. ## Related Platform Comparisons Weighing up more than one option? 🛍️ ### Fiverr Alternative Packaged Gigs and seller levels, same model. Upwork is a global freelancing platform built around job posts and proposals. A client describes a piece of work, freelancers submit proposals, and the two sides agree either an hourly contract tracked by the platform or a fixed-price contract paid against milestones held in escrow. Freelancers spend Connects, the platform's proposal credits, in order to bid, and Upwork takes a service fee from freelancer earnings while charging the client side separately. For press release work that usually means posting a brief, reading proposals and shortlisting before a word is written. Mostly because a press release is an unusually well-defined deliverable and the proposal model is built for open-ended ones. A buyer already knows the rough shape before posting: an announcement of a certain length, written the way editors expect, by a certain date. Running a proposal round for that adds days of shortlisting. On the writer's side, bidding costs Connects whether or not the brief converts, a service fee comes out of earnings, and what is left sits through a security period before it can be withdrawn. Neither is a fault in the platform; both are simply a poor fit for a short, fixed-scope job. It is a different model rather than a better version of the same one. Zinn Hub is listing-led: a Zinner publishes a press release service with its scope, word count, revisions and turnaround already stated, and a buyer orders it outright. There are no proposal credits to buy. Zinners pay 0% commission on their first $500 in sales, then tiered rates as low as 7% on the Agency Zinner tier, and the Zinner's share is released at checkout rather than after a security period. Buyers pay no platform fee, their payment is held in escrow until the order completes, and an approved refund returns to their Zinn Wallet. Upwork keeps its large established client base and its tracked hourly contracts. Four things, and a good listing states all four upfront: the word count, whether quotes are drafted for your approval or supplied by you, how many revisions are included, and what happens after the copy is signed off. That last one matters most, because writing and outreach are separate jobs that are often sold together. If outreach is included, the listing should say what form it takes and which desks or wire it targets. If it does not say, ask in the order thread before ordering rather than after, and read the Zinner's verified-purchase reviews for how previous announcements were handled. No. Zinn Hub charges buyers no platform fee, so the price shown on a press release Zinn is the price at checkout, quoted in US dollars. Posting a project brief is free as well, so if your announcement is unusual — a regulated filing, an embargoed launch, a sensitive appointment — you can describe it and let verified Zinners respond without paying anything to start. Every order is held in escrow until it completes, and an approved refund returns to the Zinn Wallet. Buyers can pay through more than 100 payment methods, including card, PayPal and cryptocurrency. Yes, and it is worth planning before the English draft is signed off rather than after. An announcement adapted for a market reads as though it was written for that market; one translated afterwards usually carries idioms that do not survive the trip. Zinn Hub renders in 46 site languages and buyers can be messaged in 58, so you can commission the English release and its adaptations from Zinners working in each target language and keep the whole set in one place. Ask for them in the same order, or as a follow-on Zinn, so the terminology stays consistent. ## Explore More on Zinn Hub Post a brief, compare the alternatives, or read the switching guide.
